Requirements for Application:
- At least 21 years old and in possession of a German or European driver’s license for at least 2 years.
- In some cases, the employment agency/job center covers the costs for the P-license.
Application Process:
- First, visit the local municipality/citizens‘ office/KVR and request a certificate of good conduct for submission to the driver’s license authority (costs approx. €13, processing time approx. 1-2 weeks, you can request it online, too by clicking here).
- Then, visit Dr. Hingerle in Kirchheim (Google Maps can help find the address) for a medical examination for „professional car chauffeur“ (costs approx. €120).
- After the medical examination, go to the driver’s license authority of your city/region.
- Once the certificate has arrived at the driver’s license authority (calling to confirm may help), bring the medical certificate and apply for the passenger transport license for rental cars (costs approx. €35).
The P-license is valid for 3 to 5 years.
Processing time varies by municipality/district and takes between two to six weeks. An express processing option is available upon request, but it costs an additional €20-30.
